D3 grade team are organising the event to help raise essential funds in support of the McGrath Foundation.

More specifically they hope to help to place specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses wherever they’re needed.

According to Cancer Australia, Breast Cancer is estimated to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in 2018 among both men and women.

With an estimated one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by their 85th birthday.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses give peace of mind to families through expert knowledge, personal care and genuine compassion.

They can help to create time in the lives of patients that is not defined by breast cancer.

Spokesperson for the D3 Grade Team, Aiden Bartley told News Of The Area, “The Pink Stumps Day is important for us as a team.”

“It’s a chance for us to raise awareness and much needed funds for crucial research for breast cancer, and have a bit of fun doing it,” said Mr Bartley.

The Pink Stumps Fundraiser will be held on 5 January at the Yulong Oval in Medowie from 1pm.

A good old fashion game of cricket between Medowie and Cardiff will kick off from 1:30pm.

There will be a sausage sizzle, as well as McGrath Foundation hats, bandanas, wristbands and donation boxes available.

Mr Bartley said, “Breast Cancer has directly affected the lives of people I care about, making this event especially important for me.”

“We have set the bar for donations at $500 however we would like to absolutely smash this out of the park for six!”

All proceeds will go directly to the McGrath Foundation.
