Mr Bromhead also discussed topics relating to the wider region and said MidCoast Council “was doing an outstanding job” with its strengths in leadership.

“To take over three councils with a huge area in such a short period of time, get all the administration in place, find savings, and announce a $30million roads and bridge program, that’s fantastic,” he said.

“There are independent reports saying that Great Lakes Council was the best performing council between the Hunter and the Queensland border, and as the General Manager of Great Lakes Council is the General Manager of MidCoast Council, we’re seeing the benefits of his leadership.”

Mr Bromhead told News Of The Area, Glenn Handford is supported by an experienced team of Directors.

“Ron Hartley is a very experienced engineer with roads and bridges, he’s now taking his knowledge and experience, and using that across the electorate,” Mr Bromhead said.

In regards to tourism, the National Party MP stated a $200 million program for regional events and tourism had just been announced.

“We have also announced start-up funding for regional events, that’s up to $20,000 if you’ve got a great idea for an event and it’s the first or second time hosting it,” he said.

“That funding is all about promotion and marketing to try and get more people to come to that area.”

Mr Bromhead said applications for ClubGRANTS close on 7 April and Community Building Partnership grants would open midyear.

Mr Bromhead will be returning to Bulahdelah this week to host ‘Pollie in the Pub’ at the Plough Inn Hotel on Friday 31 March, commencing at 6pm.

All members of the community are welcome to join Mr Bromhead for a discussion around local issues.
