The 2019 SUP State Titles and the 2019 Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles will form the Port Stephens Surf Festival and the results will decide the NSW Teams for the upcoming Australian SUP Titles in Currumbin and the Australian Longboard Titles at Tweed Heads.

Over 200 competitors are expected to compete in the five-day event.

Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer said this is an important event for the area: “The Port Stephens Surf Festival attracts visitors to Port Stephens from around NSW and showcases our beaches and waterways to a domestic and international audience.”

“This event links closely with the upcoming Port Stephens Pro and Surfest Wild Card Trials, all held in Port Stephens.

We know that through events like this, we can continue to grow the Port Stephens brand, attract year round visitation and create economic benefit for our community,” he said.

Surfing NSW CEO Luke Madden says Port Stephens is the perfect location to host the event.

“Port Stephens is an idyllic region and we can’t wait to show off its beautiful beaches to some of the best longboarders and stand-up paddlers NSW has to offer,” he said.

In 2018 Anna Bay’s Josh Stretton aged 16 at the time; was crowned winner of the NSW Junior Men’s NSW SUP.

Stretton also took out second place in the 10 foot men’s surfing division and shows great potential for the future.

Josh Stretton told News Of The Area, at the time of his win, “I’ve been surfing for 13 years, I can’t really remember not surfing,” he said.
