Rod Brown, longtime member, stated, “These days we are all overwhelmed with choices and ways to donate to big disaster funds or charities. Our Lions club is in a unique position to support people and projects in need within our local community.”

The Club is keen to identify more local projects for direct help.

The president, Peter Webb, also provided a retrospective on recent activities such as the successful Australia Day celebrations, highlighting that over 460 hours of volunteer time was logged in the past two months.

This year the Tea Gardens Lions Club will continue to strongly support local school awards and scholarships, park and waterway clean-ups, and provide direct financial assistance to organisations in need.

The Club also continues to assist with Lion’s national and international causes through supporting emergency response, medical causes and young people. Significantly, 100% of all monies raised goes directly to the cause.

Lions fundraising activities include BBQs, raffles, donations and market stalls. The club will be running a Bunnings BBQ at Heatherbrae on 15 March.

March 7 is Lions Australia Awareness Day which aims to recognise and promote Australia’s largest service organisation. The club currently has around 35 members and is seeking interested people to volunteer. The Lion’s motto is ‘We Serve. You Can Too’ Please contact the president, Peter Webb on teagardenslionsclub@gmail.com for more information.
