THANKFULLY the weather was kind to the lady bowlers and play went ahead as scheduled on Tuesday.

Social bowls and semi finals of the Club Championship Pairs to be played.

Prior to play Club President, Robyn Webster, informed members of coming events for June.

Lemon Tree Passage Trophy Day 20 June, Versatility Day 29 June and Veterans Day 30 June.

Other matters mentioned were a thank you to Lynne Green for representing our club at  New Lambton Women’s Bowling Club unfurling ceremony of their Grade 2 Pennant Flag.

Birthday greetings to Karen Green and best wishes to Beverley Thrift, convalescing  following her recent surgery.

It was hard to concentrate for those playing social bowls with the semi finals of the Pairs being played on Rinks 1 and 2. Perhaps that explains the big difference in the results for the social games, some bowlers might have been  less focused on their game and more focused on watching the semi finalists.

Kathy Stone, Sheril Johnson, Julie Kennedy and Jill McBride 6 v Dawn Jones, Jean Glover, Bev Stephens and Wendy Jones 29.

Jan Kuzmic, Lynda Richards, Karen McPhie and Dale Winter defeated Pam Gilchrist, Francis Betar, Dorothy Thompson and Olive McKeown 25 v 10.

The winners for the day with the lowest score were Dale Winter’s team.

The bowling exhibited by the semi finalists was riveting.

Two very close games, neck and neck all the way. Bette Saillard and Elizabeth Kelly lost by 2 shots to Bev Rhodes and Wendy Brand, final score 18 v 20.

Robyn Beaumont and Kayelene Pearson defeating Kerry Faber and Nola Jackson 15 v 14.

Great bowling ladies. Before play commenced a “Spider” was played congratulations to Jean Glover for a win here.

Thursday 15 June: The final for the Club Championship Pairs.

What a great competition this has been, no one could be disappointed with the standard of bowling throughout this event. Congratulations to Robyn Beaumont and Kayelene Pearson for winning this event 15 v 11, all spectators know how close some of these games were.

To the runners up Bev Rhodes and Wendy Brand  great game, you guys never gave up, remember, there is always next year. Thanks to umpires Vicki Rankin, Kathie Rimmer and Karen McPhie for giving up your time to be officiating at these events. As always “gracias mucho” to our Social Committee for our lovely post final lunch.
