On Tuesday 10 January, Round 1 of the competition commenced. Eight teams competing, only four would make it to the next round. Winning skips on Tuesday were Wendy Brand, Kayelene Pearson, Maynie Roberts and Lorraine Harvey. Maynie Roberts team, Kerry Faber, Sandra Leisemann and Pat Baker were defeated by 1 shot by Kayelene Pearson, Karen Green, Lily Smith and Dale Winter. This was a hard fought game, both teams neck to neck all the way. Lorraine Harvey, Karen McPhie, Vicki Rankin and Lyn Green defeated Wendy Brand, Francis Betar, Sheril Johnson and Julie Kennedy. Wendy’s team did very well against a slightly more “seasoned” competitor. Good luck to both winning teams for the final on Tuesday 17 January. Much appreciation to Umpire Nola Jackson and Controlling Body Merle Sargeant. Social bowls winners were Ingrid Luck, Bev Stephens, Wendy Jones and Deyonne Page. Birthday greetings to Nola Jackson. Great to see Bev Rhodes amongst the spectators at the Fours Competition. It will be good to see Bev, winner of the Club Minor Singles Competition, back on the green.
