7 SEPTEMBER: Wonderful weather for bowling and 50 players took advantage of the conditions to revel in the Wednesday Nominated triples played today.

Both greens were in use with the grass playing nice and true and at a moderate pace.

Yep! They did it again.

The team of Neil Kibble, Col Amos and Dave Rimmer blitzed the field yet again to take home the money. They scored a mammoth +44. They won their first game 17-4 and compounded that in their second winning 19-5. Well done!

In second place on a more respectable score of +32 was the team of; Geoff Page, Greg Smith and Noel Jackson. They had a big win in their first game winning 21-2. Ouch!

Lucky Losers were; Barry Drayton, Terry Munright and Ron Webster.

9 September: Rain was forecast later in the day and thankfully did not interrupt the Friday Open Jackpot Pairs which was played in near perfect conditions.

Fourteen players took part with many saving their form for the RSL LifeCare Mixed Pairs scheduled for the next two days.

There were two games of Pairs and one game of 2- bowl Triples played with the winners decided using the formula, 4 points for a win plus ends won.

This suited Vic Garlick and Bill Heylbut who romped home.

The jackpot was not won and will total $60.00 next week.

10/11 September: Almost on cue the rain ceased just before the commencement of the annual RSL LifeCare Mixed Pairs to be played over 3 games of 10 ends on Saturday and 2 games of 10 ends on Sunday.

Sunny conditions prevailed for the weekend and a total of 12 teams contested the prizemoney.

Players really received a bargain over the weekend.

Where would one get to play in a prizemoney tournament, playing 5 games of 10 ends with lunch on both days thrown in for $20.00? Great value!

They say that you need some luck in the draw to win these events, but proving luck had nothing to do with it was the team of Kerry Faber and Col Amos who out bowled all their opponents winning all 5 of their matches to take first prize and repeat their performance of last year. Well done!

Narrowly beaten into second place were the husband and wife team of Robyn and Ron Webster

who also won all five of their matches but with a slightly lower margin.

  1. Beaumont and Ross Barry took third place with four wins.

The prizes were very plentiful with just about every player winning something

Congratulations to all the competitors and making the tournament so successful.

The Tea Gardens Men’s Bowling Club would like to thank the sponsors, RSL LifeCare for providing the generous prizemoney, Pam Barry and Sue Johnson for the catering and organiser John Younghusband.
