INTERNATIONAL Volunteer Day aims to raise awareness of the crucial role volunteers play in every community.

This year’s theme is ‘If Everyone Did’, sharing the message that if each person volunteered a small part of their time, the world would be a better place.

For International Volunteer Day, NVC hosted a volunteer information morning tea to celebrate and encourage more volunteers at their aged care facilities.

“Your time is incredibly powerful, half an hour spent having a cuppa with someone or playing a game of cards could make someone’s day,” said Sonia Watts, one of the dedicated Recreational Activities Officers at Autumn Lodge in Macksville.

International Volunteer Day is an opportunity to acknowledge, thank and shine a light on the important work of volunteers.

NVC Group understands the importance of volunteers.

The organisation was created by a local, dedicated group of volunteers almost 50 years ago and volunteers have always played a vital role within the organisation.

“We hosted the morning tea for anyone who had ever thought about volunteering and wanted to learn more about the activities and opportunities that are available to them,” said Kathy Knox, Autumn Lodge Recreational Activity Officer.
