The updated Jetty Memorial Theatre Strategic Plan 2022-2026 has been developed to outline the strategic direction and guide ongoing operations for the theatre over the next five years.

It is aimed to meet community and audience expectations, guide the theatre’s business plan and provide a blueprint for continued sustainability.

The Draft Jetty Memorial Theatre Strategic Plan 2022-2026 was placed on public exhibition in June, with four submissions received by Council.

Council documents state that the Jetty Memorial Theatre Strategic Plan 2022-2026 recognises the significant social and cultural value the theatre holds for the local community and provides clear direction on management and development priorities over the next five years aimed at maximising community and the performing arts industry outcomes.

“The Jetty Memorial Theatre is a key cultural facility of Coffs Harbour City Council, delivering three core services; a central venue for the delivery of performing arts in the region, delivery of local community and commercial touring performances, and provision of an annual season program,” the report stated.

The development of the plan included consultation undertaken with staff, volunteers, Jetty Memorial Theatre Management Committee representatives, key stakeholders and the wider community via online surveys.

Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight stated at a Council meeting on 14 October that the theatre would need up to $4.2m spent on it to “get the theatre up to speed”.

“It is an amazing theatre and I have watched JMT move down the list further and further and further,” Cr Knight stated at the meeting.

“I won’t be on Council after the election so I will be asking those of you who will be on Council to please support the Jetty Memorial Theatre, please try and get applications done for grants that will be coming up, it has been sitting there for a long time.”

Councillors unanimously agreed to adopt the Jetty Memorial Theatre Strategic Plan 2022-2026.
