An amount of just over $540 was divided equally among the two groups. Colleen Ross, Co-Store Manager, said, “Both of these organisations are committed to events and opportunities to encourage our community to reduce waste and recycle, which matches IGA’s environmental values. IGA also supplied more than $150 worth of reusable cloth bags to the Pearls last year for their ‘Buy My Wardrobe’ pop up store at the Myall River Festival. “Their generous spirit has spread through our community, and we’re very grateful to them for supplying these cloth bags as it made it a lot easier for us to support the environment,” the Pearls’ Maria Harder said. “Last year’s event was a great success with all monies raised going towards the Farmers Drought Relief through the Country Women’s Association,” said Rhonda Bobako, another member of the Pearls. Julie Sims, Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest Boomerang Bags Coordinator was also thankful to receive the support from Lovey’s IGA. “The funds raised and donated to our Boomerang Bags helps to bring new events to our community,” Julie said. “All of our events, fundraising and donations of money or material, allow us to produce more items, support the community and share how important it is to reduce the reliance on plastic. Their motto, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” Last year the Lovey’s Grocers IGA at Hawks Nest contributed more than $2,500 to the local community.
