Port Stephens MP Kate Washington praised the region’s festivals in Parliament last week and acknowledged the hard-working people who made them happen.

“I recognise the amazing people who volunteer their time to showcase all that our community has to offer,” Ms Washington said.

“Recently, Karuah celebrated its annual Oyster and Timber Festival.”

“The festival featured the famous Karuah duck race and Port Stephens oysters and the best axemen in New South Wales competed against each other,” she added.

Ms Washington said another terrific event was the Myall River Festival at Tea Gardens organised by the Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

“Amazing work was done by event coordinators Craig Foot and Gerard Wilson to bring together this exciting event,” she said.

“Congratulations also go to the Pindimar Bundabah Community Association for hosting the unique Pindimar Bundabah market.”

Ms Washington also acknowledged the Riverside Multicultural Fiesta, Community Connect Day and Tastes at the Bay.

“Living in Port Stephens is like a festival every day and during festival season, it only gets better,” she said in Parliament.

Ms Washington thanked the many volunteers, businesses and community groups that worked hard to make these significant contributions to their communities.
