The Milo T20 Blast team had an experience they will never forget during the Sydney Test match between Australia and Pakistan last week at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The team had the honour of entertaining the crowd by participating in the On-Ground Entertainment during the lunch break on Day Two of the Test match.

The team comprising of Riley Smith, Henry O’Connell, Charlie Matheson, Jye Bailey, Blake Matheson, Polly Sullivan, Drew Griffiths, Jasper Gibbs, Oliver Gibbs, Cole Buchanan, Camran Bailey, Raylee Kierans, Kurtis Barry, Toby Barry, Zane Pringle and their coach Geoff Matheson entertained the thousands watching in a moment that will no doubt become one of their greatest sporting memories.

The team were then asked to form a guard of honour for Peter Handscomb and debutant Hilton Cartwright when they returned to the field.

Cartwright, unfortunately, was dismissed just a few overs afterward, but Peter Handscomb went on to score his second century not long after our Milo T20 Blast team cheered him back onto the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Being at the ground to see one of our youngest and best prospects achieve such a milestone may well spur one of the Milo Cricket Team to go onto bigger and better things.

Playing cricket, or any other sport, is hugely beneficial for any child.

It teaches them the importance of working as a team, building positive friendships, and being healthy and active.

The opportunities to watch some of their sporting role models in person is also hugely beneficial, with young children often emulating their favourite players and aspiring to be just like them.

Team spokesperson Erin Matheson told News Of The Area, “We are so proud of the children, not only for their conduct on field, but the way they represented themselves, their families and our town through the whole experience.”

“It was certainly a memorable day, and I believe it will encourage them even further with their sporting endeavours.”

Our Milo cricket team will reminisce about this day forever. Who knows, maybe one of them may inspire another youngster one day as well.
