2015 brings many new opportunities for students as Studio 2324 heads into its 22nd year of operation.

With past graduates being accepted into prestigious schools like the New Zealand School of Ballet and the Victorian College of the Arts, it is obvious that students don’t need to travel far for exceptional training.

Located in Raymond Terrace in the centre of town, students are given fantastic opportunities to develop their skills.

From dancing at Disneyland Anaheim. to competing in local eisteddfods, students also have the option of doing exams in both L.G.T.D.A Tap and R.A.D Classical Ballet.

Principal Karen Suttie, who has completed her R.A.D Teachers Certificate and Diploma said, “The key to success is having qualified staff that nurture the students talent and passion in a friendly and productive atmosphere.”

“There are a range of styles to choose from including Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Contemporary with students as young as 2 years of age fulfilling their love of dance,” she said.

“Little Ballerinas” is the latest program to be added to the repertoire for Pre-Schoolers.

This specially designed program is just for 4 year olds, with the popular “Twinkle Toes” class still running for the 2-3 year olds.

iDance Performance Co is about to start their first full season in Hawks Nest. 

The studio opened for just two terms in 2014 and the improvement of the students has been fantastic.

They performed in their first annual concert after learning for just two terms.

“We are super proud of our students and are looking forward to an incredible year,” said Kiah Muddle, owner of iDance Performance Co.

“We offer classes in jazz, cheerleading and contemporary,” she said.

Miss Kiah added, “Our qualified and experienced teachers still take class and professional development to make sure our standards are those of the industry.”

“We are looking forward to having workshops and local performances throughout the year.”

“We welcome new and previous students to our studio where we create a love and passion for the performing arts,” said Miss Kiah.

Good Vibrations Academy is a place where positive energy flows.

Established in Nelson Bay in 2010 by local performer, Di Fanning, Good Vibrations Academy has since opened a studio in Medowie offering singing, guitar, piano and drama lessons.

The ethos of Good Vibrations Academy is to have friendly, energetic and knowledgeable teachers who can form a good rapport with their students, providing an atmosphere where students can learn to perform in a space that allows them to be creative, have fun and feel at home.

The Academy takes on students from 5 years and up, catering to both children and adults.

Di believes that it is very important to have practical experience, so at the end of every school term  there are opportunities to perform at either a concert (there are two held per year) or an “End of Term Party”.

The academy attracts students from right around the Myall Coast including Karuah, Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest and Bulahdelah.

Di is always open to adding new classes at the Medowie studio if there is a demand for them, with a possibility of starting up a Hip Hop dance class, a Performance Group (like a “Glee Club”) and a “School of Rock” to learn practical band skills like setting up PA equipment, playing together as a band and recording.
