THE members of the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre are getting excited with their anticipation growing around the 14th annual Art Port Stephens Art Prize Exhibition, which will be held at the centre situated from 16 to 24 March 2019.

The Centre is open to visitors daily with free entry from 10am – 4pm.

As always a variety of works exhibited at the Centre will be for sale.

The Official Opening and Awards Presentation Evening for the annual Art Prize Exhibition is on Friday the 15 March from 6.30pm.

The beautiful Painting “Wandering – 2018” by our member “Ileana Clarke” is being raffled off to help raise funds for the 2019 Port Stephens Art Prize tickets are available at Salamander Bay Square 1 March and at the Community Arts Centre from 4t – 24 March.

Funds raised enable our unique community arts centre to maintain our heritage building.

Ileana Clarke is an artist, painter, illustrator and teacher who enjoys many art disciplines, but primarily painting and drawing and sometimes mixing different mediums, such as watercolour and ink, or charcoal and wax.

Ileana, however finds watercolour is the most challenging vehicle.

It is an ideal medium for capturing translucent light in sky land or water, inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Nelson Bay. Ileana has an Advanced Diploma in Fine Art from Newcastle Art School and a Degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University.

The current exhibition is Summertime Blues and Holiday Jewels runs until 14th March 2019.

Also on display is feature artist Judy Warren.

Judy’s work depicts some of the wonderful experiences found on her travels. Judy states “I have always loved art in all its forms.”

Being a member of the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre has given me the confidence to explore my artistic ability, a facet of my life that I truly love!”
