THE Rotary Club of Salamander Bay celebrated their successes for the year at their annual change-over dinner.

The dinner celebrated many achievements for the club including attaining a community building grant through Member for Port Stephens, Kate Washington, which will be used to improve George Reserve.

Outgoing President Ina George told News Of The Area, “We are working with Council to install a new undercover picnic table area in the park.”

The Club is active in the community and provided several organisations with cheques to continue their good works.

Included in the recipients were the Rural Fire Service, Tomaree Youth Community Action (TYCA), Tomaree Neighbourhood Centre, Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Services, and the Real Futures Foundation.

All of the organisations who received donations from the club were extremely grateful as these funds make a very big difference in many different aspects of the local community.

The Club conducts multiple fundraising activities throughout the year; and this year were seen at Bunnings Taylors Beach behind the barbeque many times; as well as at the Port Stephens Triathlon, their International Women’s Day Lunch and, the Nelson Bay Australia Day celebrations.

The new President at the helm of the Rotary Club of Salamander Bay is Gary Stanton.

Gary is focusing on hope and respect in the coming year.

The Club welcomes new members who would like to make a contribution to their community.
