IN August, the Tea Gardens Baptist Church’s free concert, Live! Live! Live!, featured Sage, one of the regular bands.

As usual, the audience rocked along to their foot tapping popular music and an added bonus during this month’s afternoon tea break was a short bracket of songs provided by a group of enthusiastic seniors.

Mostly beginners, they sang and accompanied themselves on ukuleles to the delight of the audience.

The ukulele players have been coached over a period of some months by Karuah resident, Julie Hughes.

Julie, an accomplished musician, has been teaching ukulele for many years.

Recently, while on a holiday on a cruise ship, Julie saw how much fun beginners could have learning to play as a group and decided to offer this experience to local residents.

She is always happy for new-comers to join the group which meets in the Baptist church hall.

Live! Live! Live! is held on the third Thursday of every month.
