Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Jeanette recently started a petition and has gathered more than 400 signatures in just a few weeks. “We really need a year round heated pool in this area for all locals but especially since we have an ageing population,” Jeanette said. “The needs of the disabled and handicapped must be acknowledged, honoured and catered for in our community as they are in the community at large.” In an ideal world, Jeanette is calling for the Tea Gardens pool to be covered and extra solar strips installed to maintain warmth for year round use. Jeanette has written to the Mayor and has the backing of the Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Progress Association. Currently residents have to travel to Raymond Terrace during the autumn and winter months if they want to swim or use the pool for hydrotherapy, exercise or swimming lessons.
