Good nutrition and exercise is important for everyone, and according to Punchin’ Parko’s, non-contact boxing classes can reduce and even delay the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s NSW are sponsoring people to train and become Parkinson’s Disease Warriors, (PD Warriors), to ensure each support group has a qualified Punching Parkinson’s trainer.

Punching Parkinson’s is on twice weekly, every Tuesday and Thursday at 3.00pm in the Waratah room Salamander Library.

Parkinson’s Support Group consists of volunteers, sufferers and carers who gather once a month for support, social interaction and to listen to guest speakers who are specialists in the field, they bring with them the latest research data and create hope that things can improve.

Gathering on the third Thursday of the month at one pm, in the Waratah room, within the Salamander Bay Library.
The group recognise the vital role of carers, the first Tuesday of the month is when the carers get together for coffee and a chat.
Utilising the vast array of local cafes, their venue changes monthly.

Lee Anlezark, President, Tomaree Peninsula Parkinson’s Support Group said, “There is a lot of money being invested into research to hopefully one day find a cure for Parkinson’s.”

The group are planning a trip to the Myall Lakes, which will involve camping, boating and fishing endeavours involving the Time Sharing of the Myall Lakes Campers, which are disabled friendly.

The objective is to get as many of the group members outdoors.

“It’s about making the effort, and keeping going on, forward,” Lee said.

Speaking with News Of The Area, Lee said, “Being President gives me focus to keep on striving to move forward with what I have learnt.”
