Each Thursday evening, along with raffles and members’ draw, school students’ names are called over the loudspeaker and a statement is read out that was submitted by their school detailing the positive behaviour the nominated student has demonstrated.

The students are accompanied by a school teacher or principal to receive the award.

Centre Manager and Marketing Manager Ms Colleen Mulholland-Ruiz told News Of The Area, “Seeing the look on the parents’ and other family members’ faces when their student gets an award is so rewarding for us at MarketPlace.”

“The look of pride on their faces reinforces our decision to run the PBL awards in public each week.”

This week’s PBL award recipients include:

Charlie Williams, Grahamstown Public School: Charlie demonstrated mature skills when working with the teachers to support the recent public speaking and debating events.

Huxley Rowe, Irrawang High School: Nominated for displaying outstanding customer service skills at the last CPA fundraising Bunnings BBQ.

Tristian Ward, Medowie Public School: For giving up his own time and patiently trying to teach someone a new skill without being asked.

Lily Wright, Raymond Terrace Public SChool: For representing the School in the community by demonstrating respect and acting responsibly when performing in the school choir.

Lacey Atkinson, Salt Ash Public School: For always demonstrating our school’s PBL values of being a positive, respectful and safe learner; at school and in the community.

Brianna Slater, Hunter River High: Demonstrating continued resilience and consistent positive work ethic.

Alyssa-Jane Walker, Irrawang Public School: For returning another student’s school bag that was left in the park near their home; for honesty.

Noah Hartmann, Karuah Public School: Noah attended a cooking class at the Karuah local pizza shop. He displayed respect, responsibility, and pride throughout the day.

Mia Hostler, Seaham Public School: Mia and her brother found an expensive fitbit in the playground. It was returned to the teacher who ensured it was returned to its original owner.

The five principles of the PLB program form the word, STARS: safety; trust and honesty, acting responsibly, respect for; and success.
